A Colombian TV host and model in
the persona of Paulina Vega won the
highly coveted title of Miss Universe during the 63rd
edition of the beauty pageant which took place last January 25, 2015 at Doral,
Florida defeating 88 other participants from all over the world. For those
pageant fans who doesn’t know who is Paulina Vega yet, this post is for you. Let’s
all discuss the current Miss Universe titleholder before we welcome the new
queen which will be revealed in the upcoming Miss Universe 2015 coronation night on December 20, 2015.
Paulina Vega Dieppa was born in Barranquilla, Colombia on January
15, 1993. Before winning the Miss Universe 2014 title, she previously won the
Miss Atlántico 2013 crown, and Miss Colombia 2013 which gave her the chance to
compete in Miss Universe 2014 pageant. It seems that being beautiful, talented
and intelligent quite run in the family since among Paulina’s grandmother is
Elvira Susana Castillo Gómez, the winner of Miss Miss Atlántico 1953.
She’s quite the linguist since
she can speak English, German and French aside from her native Spanish. Vega is
the second Colombian to win the Miss Universe pageant, the first one is Luz
Marina Zuluaga who won in 1958.
During her stint in Miss Universe
2014, she beats 88 contestants from all over the world including some of the early
fan favorites. She’s the first victor to wear the new crown designed by
Diamonds International Corporation, a Czech-based jeweler officially
responsible for Miss Universe jewelry.
Paulina intends to spend her
year-long reign as Miss Universe 2014 travelling the world in order to address
humanitarian issues and to promote awareness regarding HIV/AIDS, educate the
people about crucial health issues in today’s society.
Well, that was quite a handful of
stuffs about Paulina Vega, but what makes us all excited is the upcoming Miss Universe 2015 pageant which will
takes place on December 20, 2015 at The AXIS Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort
& Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
